Hello! For the last week or so, I've been working on some sprites for new enemy types to put in The Outbreak Story. At the time that I'm writing this blog post, I've gotten almost all of the spritework done for 2 new enemies. Meet the Mimic and the Devilworm! The Mimic is an enemy that disguises itself as a chest. In its disguised state, it looks like any other chest: But try to open it... and it will reveal its true colors: It will attack the party with powerful magic spells that pack a punch and can inflict status ailments as well. When defeated, it will yield money and/or valuable items. This is a fairly common trope in JRPGs and I felt I'd include it for that reason. (and because I generally like things that aren't all that they seem at first glance.) The Devilworm is a giant worm that will burst out from underneath where the party is standing. It is a formidable foe and will attack with powerful magic spells and by spitting projectiles from its maw. Said projectiles will rain down on the party and can inflict status ailments. Here's the Devilworm's idle animation: And here's it's attack animation for spitting projectiles. And that's it for this progress update.
If you've made it this far, thanks for reading. I appreciate it. If you'd like, please consider sharing this blog post with your friends or on social media, it helps a lot! Until next time! Greetings, -Bas
